The Rapid Antigen Test for the detection of Covid-19 arrives at Premium Clinic. A diagnostic test that detects the virus from the first days of infection. Its main advantage over PCR is that it offers results in just 15 minutes, as well as being much cheaper.

What does this test consist of?

The test detects antigens, the proteins on the surface of the virus present in the patient’s respiratory system. The sample is obtained through a swab from the nasopharyngeal area (nose or throat). It does not need to be processed in the laboratory, unlike PCR tests, the results are obtained in the same place where the samples are taken and in just 15 minutes.

This test has a sensitivity and specificity as high as PCR. It detects the presence of the virus in the first days of the infection, which allows to take measures just in time.
