DID YOU KNOW THAT SKIN CANCER IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON TYPES OF CANCER?<\/h3>\n

We live in an area where we can enjoy a warm climate and many hours of light at any time of the year. But the negative part is that we are too exposed to ultraviolet rays all year round. One of the most serious consequences of sun exposure is skin cancer, this being the most common type of tumor that continues to increase every year. According to the latest data, this type of cancer affects 1 in 5 Spaniards, before the age of 70.<\/p>\n

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that around 71,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer (basal cell and squamous cell) are registered worldwide each year. On the other hand, the Spanish Network of Cancer Registries (Redecan) indicates that in the last year around 6,000 new cases of melanoma have been diagnosed, the most aggressive type of cancer that exists due to its high capacity to produce metastasis.<\/p>\n

Most skin cancer cases are caused by overexposure to the sun throughout life, especially in youth. Repeated sunburns in the same areas, having many moles (congenital or from an early age), skin diseases, genetic inheritance, among others, also affect.<\/p>\n

The good news is that skin cancer is curable in most cases, but its prognosis depends on rapid detection. Among the habits that help to detect it in time are the periodic explorations of our own skin and the annual review with the dermatologist.<\/p>\n

It is important to be alert to certain injuries or warning signs on our skin, such as: spots and \/ or moles that itch or bleed, have irregular edges, change shape or size, etc. Skin cancer can be detected at a very early stage, because its signs can be seen very early.<\/p>\n
